This Tuesday, deputies of the National Assembly (AN) received and honored the mortal remains of General Domingo Antonio Sifontes at the headquarters of the Legislative Palace.

“If Domingo Antonio Sifontes hadn't expelled and captured English pirates in 1895 in Cuyuní, we might be fighting today to recover our father Rio,” said the president of the Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez.

In this regard, he emphasized that if General Sifontes had not defended our territory “perhaps they would not have needed (the English) that philony called the Paris Arbitration Award of 1899 because they have tried everything, they have invented maps, they have invented a felonic court that did not allow even the legitimate right to representation of the Republic of Venezuela; that is the Arbitral Award”.

In this regard, he stressed that the National Assembly began the second discussion of the Law for the Protection of Guiana Essequiba, which will allow us to chart a new path in defense of this Venezuelan territory.

“These are stellar times for the defense of the Homeland and in this stellar time in which we will recover our right to Guiana Essequiba, General Domingo Antonio Sifontes will be with us from the Pantheon of Heroes,” he stressed.
