ANSA and CAVIDEA activate contingency plan to guarantee food supply after earthquakes

The National Association of Supermarkets and Self-Services (ANSA), in alliance with the Venezuelan Chamber of the Food Industry (CAVIDEA), activated a strategic contingency plan with the purpose of guaranteeing the full supply of essential products and stabilizing the distribution chain following the seismological events of last June 24.

The president of ANSA, Ítalo Atencio, indicated that the sectoral response protocols were put in place since Thursday, June 25. He specified that suppliers of perishable items such as meat, fruits, vegetables, vegetables and charcuterie form a fundamental part of the agreements reached to ensure the timely replenishment of inventories on shelves nationwide.

The union representative added that although there are no records of structural damage in affiliated supermarket establishments, rigorous preventive technical inspections are being carried out; these evaluations have the direct support of Civil Protection and the various municipalities to certify the total safety of the facilities.

The association's spokespersons pointed out that commercial activity has presented complexities mainly in the axes of Naiguatá, Macuto and Playa Grande, in the state of La Guaira, where half of the businesses are temporarily inoperative.

Due to this situation, the establishment of a priority transportation channel through the Caracas-La Guaira highway was coordinated to speed up the delivery of food, medicine and fuel to affected areas.
