The National Consumer Price Index (INPC) registered a month-on-month variation of 8.9% in the month of August, the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) reported this Friday.
As reported by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), the BCV noted that marketing channels recovered last month and there were lower pressures in the foreign exchange market, which were reflected in a lower variation in the exchange rate and in the prices of goods and services.
The financial institution stressed that, after the initial impact of the double earthquake of June 24 on the national economy, “an understandable inflation rate is once again achieved with macroeconomic policy actions that seek price stabilization.”
In early August, the bank reported that the increase in inflation in July was temporary due to the double earthquake. The July INPC registered a year-on-month change of 19.9%.
