Bernardo Arévalo assumes the presidency of Guatemala this Sunday

This Sunday will be the swearing in and taking office of the new president of Guatemala, Bernardo Arévalo, winner of the elections held in June last year.
The event will be held in the Efraín Recinos Gran Sala, Miguel Ángel Asturias Cultural Center, attended by delegations from more than 60 countries, Prensa Latina reports.
Among the leaders who have confirmed their attendance are the presidents of Paraguay, Santiago Peña; of Honduras, Xiomara Castro; of Colombia Gustavo Pedro; of Chile Gabriel Boric; of Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chaves; and Laurentino Cortizo, of Panama.
Also present will be the king of Spain, Felipe VI, the president, as well as the foreign minister of Mexico, Alicia Isabel Barcena, and the high representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell.
In addition to senior personalities from the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Morocco, Serbia, Bolivia, Canada, Cuba, and other countries, are expected to attend.
The protocol ceremony estimates a speech by Arévalo in Plaza de la Constitución in the capital of Guatemala. Meanwhile, this Monday the Solemne Te Deum will take place in the Metropolitan Cathedral.
