Birthday of “Almost!” : The extreme right wing scam that ended in mutual accusations

Two years after it came to light, the campaign “Almost Venezuela!” celebrates a new anniversary marked by failure and allegations of fraud.
The initiative was promoted through social networks by members of the recalcitrant and failed extreme right, who requested economic donations with the promise of financing destabilization and invasion actions against national sovereignty.
One of the main creators of this maneuver was Iván Simonovis, former director of the Criminological, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (CICPC) and promoter of hate campaigns against the country. Over time, supporters and contributors of the project have demanded explanations about the destination of the funds raised for a purpose that never materialized, while the promoters intend to wash their hands and are now auctioning the website on the internet.
In the face of embezzlement, the controversy generated strong internal fractures and public accusations among its spokespersons. Communicator Daniel Lara Farías fervently criticized Erik Prince —who devised the campaign with Simonovisy and questioned: “And the real ones?” , to which the former director of the CICPC responded by evading his responsibility and directly blaming María Corina Machado.
For his part, Prince himself broke away from financial management by claiming in an interview: “I didn't receive the donations, I didn't manage the donations, I didn't have anything under my control and besides, let's make it clear that I didn't receive any payment to participate.” This crossing of signs confirms the fraudulent nature of actions promoted by opposition extremism to profit at the expense of media manipulation.
