The Minister of Popular Power for Education, Héctor Rodríguez, reported that this year five thousand new preschool classrooms were opened across the country.

During a radio interview, he asserted that there are currently 200,000 teachers in specialized training, precisely to improve quality, but also to overcome the deficit of specialists that we have.

Rodríguez also highlighted that “the mosaic schedule has been exceeded”, the one where there were two or three days of classes a week, as a result of Covid-19 and the lockdown.

In this regard, he confirmed that 98% of schools in the country attend classes 5 days a week, only 2% can have mosaic schedules due to infrastructure issues.

Regarding the rehabilitation of schools after the earthquakes that occurred last June 24, he indicated that territorial criteria must be taken, we cannot address them all at the same time, since it would paralyze classes for a period of up to three months, “we must recover one first, and then go to another, and that school enrollment that is going to be paralyzed is attended to in schools that have already been rehabilitated”.
