During his Con El Mazo Dando program, the general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, announced that a tribute will soon be held throughout Venezuela to Simón Díaz, with the lanero singer Vitico Castillo.

“To sing all of Simon Diaz's songs all over Venezuela. We are going to do it because Simón Díaz is a reference for Venezuelan culture,” he highlighted during the 568th broadcast.

In this regard, he said that it is very difficult for a Venezuelan singer not to feel admiration for Simón Díaz, “and young people tend to forget who Simón Díaz is, so yesterday (Vitico Castillo) proposed to me to do that (the homage)”.

“Today a young person told him this and he told me that young people really like 'free cover', that's what they call it. I told Vitico that Omar Acedo would help him. They are going to agree to pay homage to Simón Díaz and go to all the states of Venezuela,” he reaffirmed.

Cabello recalled that at the time Castillo thanked Commander Hugo Chávez for having highlighted Venezuelan music, “they fell on him and he composed a song on that subject. He's never been afraid, really.”
