The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, highlighted this Monday the events of April 11, 12 and 13, 2002, when the extreme opposition right staged a coup d'etat against Commander Hugo Chávez and the People returned him to the Presidency.
“2002 is a historic event, it is this same town of today, it is our Armed Forces, today with police forces united in unity by our country,” said Cabello at the weekly press conference of the red awning.
He stressed that “the organization of the People has never liked the bourgeoisie, ever. The oligarchy has never liked popular organization. Commander Chávez saw it from afar and I must remember that in 2002 Commander Chávez had not proclaimed the status of a socialist government. They were giving him a coup d'etat because it simply wasn't the same type of government that the previous ones had been,” he recalled.
