The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, emphasized that former shortstop Omar Vizquel is a glory of Venezuelan sports “I don't know his political tendency”, praising his baseball career.

“He's an eminence as a player. Anyone who can watch major league baseball can say what they want, but he hasn't had a better shortstop than Omar Vizquel,” he said.

The statement was made by Cabello when he dismissed a publication by longliner Emmanuel Rincón, who made absurd remarks about the political tendency of Venezuelan baseball players Omar Vizquel and Miguel Cabrera.

In that regard, Cabello, his show Con el Mazo, highlighted that Rincón “accuses Omar Vizquel of Chavista. Vizquel is a glory of Venezuelan sports, I don't know what Omar Vizquel's political preference is.”

Faced with Rincón's complaint that Vizquel has blocked him on social networks, Cabello ironically stated that “damn, how important you are, okay. If I have Enmanuel blocked, please, someone to remind me, in order to unlock him, of a character as important as we are going to have him blocked.”
