Caravan with the Mortal Remains of General Domingo Antonio Sifontes arrived in Caracas

In the afternoon of this Monday, January 08, the Mortal Remains of the heroic General Domingo Antonio Sifontes, known as the “Terror of the English”, were received during an event in Civic-Military Union, held at El Paseo La Nacionalidad, in Caracas.

This reception ceremony was chaired by the head of Government of the Capital District (GDC), Nahum Fernández.

The caravan carrying the Mortal Remains of the heroic General Domingo Antonio Sifontes was activated last Saturday, January 6, in the town of Tumero, in the municipality of Sifontes, in the state of Bolívar, until his arrival in Caracas.

The remains of General Sifontes will be in the Burning Chapel, in the spaces of the Military Academy of the Bolivarian Army, where authorities from the various spheres of the country and the Venezuelan people will be able to honor the patriot hero.

In the spaces of the aforementioned Academy, the reception was given by the commander of the Strategic Operational Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (CEOFANB), G/J Domingo Hernández Lárez.

It is scheduled that this Tuesday, January 9th, the Mortal Remains of General Domingo Antonio Sifontes will enter the National Pantheon.

On his tour, he passed through the municipalities of Páez, Acevedo and Plaza in Miranda state, where in a solemn ceremony, the mortal remains of General Sifontes were honored, near the Playa Pintada toll booth, Pedro Gual municipality.

The general was born in 1834, in the town of Cantaura, Anzoátegui state, and was engraved in Venezuelan history as the “Terror of the English”, because of his heroic deeds in defense of the sovereignty and dignity of our lands.

January 2024 marked 129 years since the expulsion of the English from the Cuyuní River, when they tried to take over the towns of El Callao, Tumremo and El Dorado, in order to steal wealth and provisions.
