China asks the parties involved to act calmly and restraint to prevent further escalation of tensions in the Red Sea region, a spokeswoman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
Spokeswoman Mao Ning made these statements at a daily press conference when answering a question related to the U.S. attack against the Houthis in Yemen, which was launched in response to the assaults committed by the latter on a merchant ship in the Red Sea.
The Red Sea is an important international trade route for goods and energy, said Mao, who expressed hope that all parties involved will play a constructive and responsible role in safeguarding security and stability in the region, which serves the common interests of the international community.
