China rejects purchase of US weapons by Taiwan's political party

This Friday, a Chinese defense spokesman condemned Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (PDP) authorities for buying American weapons and said that such actions cannot stop the inevitable trend towards complete national reunification of China.

Zhang Xiaogang, a spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense, made the comments in response to a media question about Taiwan's upgrading of warplanes and its planned purchase of American warplanes.

Noting that the PDP authorities acquired American weapons using the hard-earned money of the people of Taiwan for their own selfish interests, Zhang said that such measures would only push Taiwan to the brink of war.
