The Government of the People's Republic of China presented this Wednesday its ambitious five-year scientific and technological research plan for the railway sector for the period 2026-2030, which includes the opening of approximately thirty centers specialized in innovation and modernization of transport.

In accordance with the technical guidelines released by the block's cooperation agencies, the comprehensive strategy foresees the development of at least a hundred cutting-edge technologies, the materialization of more than half a thousand scientific-technical results and the execution of pilot projects focused on high-speed trains of up to 400 kilometers per hour, as well as magnetic levitation systems capable of reaching 600 kilometers per hour.

The strategic plan also incorporates the integration of artificial intelligence in the operational management and design of hydrogen-based eco-traction locomotives and high-efficiency batteries, with the purpose of optimizing industrial standards and reaching peak carbon emissions in the national railway network before the end of the decade.
