The National Autonomous Cinematography Center (CNAC) premiered its most recent fiction feature film Turba, which is part of its training program “Learning by Doing”, an innovative proposal that after two years, continues to open spaces for an increasingly diverse Venezuelan cinema.

According to information from Venezolana de Televisión, the film directed by the brothers Luis and Andrés Rodríguez, integrates the best of cinema and theater to turn it into a profound film, whose cornerstone is the actress and general producer Jericó Montilla.

The Learning by Doing program began in 2024 with new opportunities for cinematography in Venezuela and this is where the story of six women aboard a slave ship on their way to slavery in America, who come to life through this sensory story of resistance, is framed.

The cinematographic staging mixes with the device of the work to create a fine dividing line between the play “Turba” and the daily reality of its actresses, where art imitates life and vice versa.
