The Institute for Development and Peace Studies (INDEPAZ) reported that Colombia closed 2023 with a total of 95 massacres.

The last murder occurred on December 30 in the rural area of the municipality of Linares, in the department of Nariño, when three adults and the minor were found dead.

“On December 28, these people were abducted by a group of men, and two days later they found their bodies with gunshot wounds. Three of the victims were identified as Martha Yolanda Benavidíza Segura, Orgey Bayardo Melo Andrade, 39, and Jhojan Rodriguez, 17,” INDEPAZ said.

In this regard, INDEPAZ also noted that more than 180 human rights defenders in the country lost their lives in 2023.
