A general blackout affected the entire Cuban territory this Friday after the total disconnection of the National Electricity System (SEN) was reported, as reported by journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso through his official channels.
The massive failure was triggered by an initial failure in the high-voltage transmission lines that left the western region of the country without power, causing the collapse of electricity in the provinces from Pinar del Rio to Matanzas before spreading to the rest of the island.
Technical forces and authorities in the energy sector are carrying out the evaluation of the causes of the failure and initiated start-up and interconnection protocols to try to gradually restore service, in the midst of the complex landscape faced by the generation and distribution infrastructure in the nation.
