Elected councilor assassinated in Colombia

In the early morning of January 2, the elected councilor of Tuluá (Colombia) Eliecid Ávila died after receiving several bullet wounds on the night of December 31, 2023 in the middle of the New Year's celebration.

The local police explained that Ávila was attacked by two individuals when he was sharing with his family on public roads in the Victoria de la Villa neighborhood.

He was then assisted and taken to a health center where he remained in the process of recovery. However, the councilman's family confirmed his death, the website wradio.com reported.
