Members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) disbanded a clandestine airstrip installed by criminal groups linked to illegal mining in the Alto Orinoco municipality, on the border with Brazil, in the state of Amazonas, reported the strategic operational commander of the FANB, G/J Domingo Hernández Lárez.
Through his X account, the senior military officer explained that, on the site, hidden in the undergrowth, food fuel, aircraft fuselages, motorcycle parts, weights, hoses, antennas, solar panels, plants, cellars and other implements for the depredation of the environment were detected and destroyed.
“Venezuelan border areas are national security zones and are subject to special conservation administration. The construction of structures that degrade nature, much less that are used for illegal mining trafficking, will not be allowed,” said Hernández Lárez.
In another message, he explained that the FANB has enabled Rapid Reaction Units (URRA) to disable clandestine tracks installed by illegal miners in Amazonas.
