Venezuelan women's boxing starred in a historic and unforgettable day at the Santa Fe 2026 South American Games, after winning two valuable gold medals from boxers Diana Márquez and Omailyn Cegovia Alcalá.

With an impeccable and convincing performance, the Venezuelan Márquez was crowned South American champion in the 54 kg division after defeating Argentina's Melanie Martínez in the final with a 4-1 card.

On the way to the top, Márquez categorically beat Uruguay's Antonella Barzabal 5-0. Later, in the semifinal phase, she dominated Chile's Denisse Vilches 5-0.

For her part, Cegovia Alcalá in the 57 Kg category signed an anthology match by defeating Brazil's 3-2 Jucielen Romeu, who came to the fight defending the South American title won in Asunción 2022.

In the semifinal round, Cegovia Alcalá set his pace and punch from start to finish to shut out Paraguay's Minerva Mereles by a resounding 5-0.
