The Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research (FUNVISIS) reported this Tuesday four earthquakes recorded between the states of Falcón and Yaracuy during the early morning hours.
The state of Falcón concentrated most of the events, with three tremors in the Churuguara area. The most significant occurred at 2:49, with a magnitude of 4.4 and a depth of 3.3 kilometers. Later, at 5:15, two aftershocks of lower intensity were recorded, with quantities of 2.6 and 2.8.
In Yaracuy, the movement was located in Aroa at 2:52am, reaching a magnitude of 3.4 and a depth of 8.5 kilometers. The difference in the depth of the events suggests different mechanisms in the generation of tremors.
FUNVISIS is monitoring the area, although no material damage or casualties have been reported until the closing of this note. The agency recalled that on September 3, an earthquake of magnitude 4.4 was detected in Delta Amacuro, which shows constant seismic activity in several regions of the country.
