The Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF) announced the departure of the Argentinian national coach, Fernando “Bocha” Batista and his entire coaching staff, after completing the qualification process for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Batista's departure comes hours after the 3-6 defeat against Colombia at the Monumental Stadium in Maturín, on the last day of the South American qualifiers, which left Venezuela out in its contribution to going to the repechage with a view to the 2026 World Cup.
The information was released by the FVF through a statement, published on the social media system, in which it detailed that the decision responds to the fact that the sports results established as the objective were not achieved in this cycle.

The Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF) informs public opinion that, after completing the qualification process for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Fernando “Bocha” Batista has been dismissed from his duties as technical director of the Absolute National Team, along with his entire coaching staff.
The decision responds to the fact that the sporting results established as the objective were not achieved in this cycle. While recognizing the effort and dedication shown, the Federation believes that a change of course is necessary to ensure that Vinotinto continues to advance in its growth and consolidation process.
Under the leadership of Batista, the national team showed a competitive character and moments of soccer evolution, but the final results were not up to the expectations of the country and the institution.
The FVF reaffirms its commitment to the development of Venezuelan football and is now working on the next steps to be taken to form a new coaching staff that will allow us to face the next world championship cycle with determination.
