Between October 07 and December 15, in the Gaza Strip, approximately 18,800 Palestinians died, of whom 70% were women and children, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Ramallah reported in a statement this Sunday, according to the CNN website in Spanish.

It specifies that more than 300 health workers, 86 journalists, 135 employees of the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA) and approximately 35 civil defense teams are included in the death toll.

He added that, according to reports, more than 51,100 people have been injured and there are dozens of people missing.

In its report, the Ministry noted that only eight of the 36 hospitals in the enclave are partially functioning, and that occupancy rates have skyrocketed to 206 percent in inpatient departments and 250 percent in intensive care units.

CNN cannot independently verify these numbers. The Ministry bases its figures on data received from Hamas-controlled hospitals in Gaza.

Last week (December 10), the Israel Defense Forces stated that they have attacked more than 22,000 targets in Gaza since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7.
