In the town of Cantaura, the governor of the state of Anzoátegui, Luis José Marcano, led the ceremony of receiving the mortal remains of General Domingo Antonio Sifontes, in the caravan on the way to the National Pantheon in Caracas.

The first civil authority in the eastern entity emphasized the privilege of receiving the caravan, so he ruled that “today we pay homage in his homeland to General Domingo Antonio Sifontes”.

For Marcano, “it is important and I would like to highlight two elements, first of all the vindictive nature of the Bolivarian Revolution, with the rescue of the exploits of women and men who brought freedom to the country. Commander Chávez taught us to love Bolívar and our history (...) that position is perfectly coherent at that moment because we Venezuelans have learned a lot about the struggle to recover Guiana Essequiba, in a very particular way in recent months.”

He added that “secondly, it is prudent to take advantage of this moment to highlight the pride of the people of Anzoategua to enhance national pride with actions that allow time to last”.

He noted that “today we celebrate this historic activity and we pay a tribute that will last over time. Your name must be on the squares and park. Honor and glory!”

For his part, G/B José Gregorio Caldera Díaz, Commander of the 33rd Caribbean Brigade of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) Valentín García, specified that “it is important to know the past, present and thus be able to project our future (...) Today we mark a milestone for our history that will remain in our hearts. Today, in the land where he was born during his passage to the National Pantheon where the heroes of our country and independence rest, we pay him the corresponding honors and say: Thank you my general for so much courage and loyalty!”

The remains were handed over to the mayor of the Independencia municipality, Hernán Rodríguez, from the hands of the governor of the state of Bolivar, Ángel Marcano. After the state of Anzoátegui, the caravan will leave for Miranda state and then arrive in Caracas at the National Pantheon.
