Great Mission Quadrants of Peace achieves a reduction of more than 16% in crime indicators

As part of the citizen security policies implemented by the Bolivarian Government to guarantee peace for the Venezuelan people, the year closed with a 16.8% decrease in crime rates.

This was reported by the Sectorial Vice President for Citizen Security and Peace, A/J Remigio Ceballos Ichaso, who highlighted that in 2023 there was a 21% reduction in the crime of homicide, which places Venezuela with a rate of 5.21 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Likewise, other crimes that showed a significant decrease in this period were theft, with -21%; theft, with -33%; vehicle theft, with -20%; and kidnapping with -39%; figures that demonstrate the preventive work carried out by citizen security bodies to guarantee the enjoyment of the right to security contemplated in article 55 of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

“We derived the concept of citizen security from Liberator Simon Bolivar's original concept of the highest sum of happiness, the highest sum of political stability and the highest sum of social security.”

Comprehensive Prevention for Life and Peace

The also Minister of People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace, A/J Remigio Ceballos Ichaso, highlighted the importance of prevention as a tool for peacebuilding. “We continue to pay attention to the social aspect, which is one of the fundamental elements that has allowed us to make progress in this area.”

“This year we carried out 149 public safety devices, 18,160 preventive activities that addressed more than 4 million people,” he said.

Regarding the deployment of the Peace Quadrants, the Admiral in Chief indicated that the historic figure of 3,000 active quadrants has been reached, “which makes it possible to forcefully expand the actions of officials in the territory to ensure security.”

Fight against organized crime and institutional strengthening

In 2023, a total of 52 tons of drugs were seized in a total of 11,756 procedures, thanks to the Civic Military Police Union, which represents 26.91% more in this type of anti-drug action, compared to the same period in 2022.

Likewise, Ceballos Ichaso celebrated the results of Operation Grand Cacique Guaicaipura, a successful police deployment in the last seven prisons that were under the control of prison mafias.

“The plans are over and those centers of crime and crime (...) we took away their strategy of disturbing the peace of the country,” he said.

In terms of equipment, and thanks to the resources approved by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, 2,903 new vehicles and motorcycles were delivered and 5,000 firearms recovered from the streets were redeployed; in order to strengthen the operational capacity of citizen security bodies.
