The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, stressed that the peace diplomacy of the Bolivarian government as well as national and international social movements were essential to achieve the release of diplomat Alex Saab, who resisted more than three years of kidnapping by the US justice system.

He extended words of thanks to the head of the National Government delegation at the Dialogue Table, Deputy Jorge Rodríguez Gómez, for his uncompromising work in conducting “this process that has allowed today's exchange with the United States government and the healthy, alive and free rescue of Alex Saab.”

In this regard, he also valued the efforts of Gerardo Blyde, spokesman for the Unitary Platform of Venezuela “because they have been part of the Barbados Agreements and of this exchange that took place today.”

The National President recognized the efforts taken by the president of the National Assembly Jorge Rodríguez, the governor of Miranda, Héctor Rodríguez, as well as the government of Qatar to bring about the return of Saab.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Free Alex Saab Movement for remaining active nationally and internationally in seeking justice for the Venezuelan diplomat.
