An important military advisor to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) died this Monday after an Israeli air strike in Damascus (Syria), according to the Russian agency RT.

Sayyed Razi Mousavi, responsible for coordinating the military alliance between Syria and Iran, was killed “in a criminal missile attack by the Zionist regime, which killed children in a suburb of Damascus,” the media quoted the Revolutionary Guard as saying.

Mousavi was one of the oldest advisors to the IRGC in Syria and also a close collaborator of Iranian general Qassim Soleimani, who died in a US missile attack near Baghdad International Airport in Iraq in 2020.

The Iranian Armed Forces swore that Israel will “pay” for the assassination of Razi Mousavi, who held the rank of brigadier general in the Guard.

Since Israel's war against Hamas began, Syrian and Iranian authorities were among the first to come out to support the Palestinian movement. The escalation of tensions is going through an unprecedented moment, where the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have repeatedly attacked critical infrastructure in Syria, including airports.
