JOAQUÍN RAMÍREZ IS MURDERED INSIDE A DUNGEON

  • On December 21, 1964, Joaquín Alberto Ramírez Cárdenas, a young mechanic, was killed by a police inspector inside the police checkpoint on January 23.
  • Shouting “I'm going to shoot them all”, the official activated his weapon of regulation on Joaquín Alberto's humanity, after having inflicted a savage beating on him, threatening to do the same to the brother and friends of the deceased who were being held with him.
  • They were all put against the wall, when the police officer drew his gun and, bringing it close to Ramírez Cárdenas's forehead, shot it, causing his fatal wound.
  • The police onslaught of the Government of Leoni, in December 1964, was characterized by brutality against civilians and even children in popular areas of Caracas and other cities in the country:
  • Not listening to the voice out loud, the 20-year-old Juan Mena, in the neighborhood of Juro de Petare was killed by the police.
  • A 2-year-old girl was arrested for singing Christmas music. The police broke up the group that played Aguinaldos in the area of January 23.
  • Saturnino Antonio Márquez was shot in the leg for not obeying the voice of arrest given to him by a police officer in Valencia, from Carabobo.
  • In Caracas, a Digepol agent shot at the well-known radio journalist Otilio García Grillet, as he left the studios of the Radio Tropical radio station, located between the Jesuits and Mijares street corners at night.
