The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, reported that the country has 920 deaths, 3,360 injured and more than 4,000 people injured as a result of the two earthquakes that occurred on Wednesday, June 24.

He noted that 383 buildings and houses were destroyed or severely damaged, mainly in the state of La Guaira.

Rodríguez explained that, in addition to the two main events of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5, 302 seismic movements have been recorded in total, including more than 300 aftershocks along the country's geological faults. He indicated that the monitoring system remains active and that security and rescue agencies are still deployed in the affected areas.

He asked the population to remain calm and avoid moving to La Guaira, because traffic congestion makes it difficult to evacuate the injured and access emergency teams.

He said that the best way to collaborate is to allow the free movement of ambulances, rescue units and support machinery.

He reported that two collection centers were set up in Caracas to receive supplies such as water, food, mattresses, clothing, medicines and work equipment. The operating points are located in La Carlota and in the Caracas Warehouse, in Catia, Sucre parish.

He announced that in the next few hours a number 0800 will be published to report missing persons. He explained that hospitals in La Guaira, Caracas, Chacao, San Bernardino and El Paraíso are linked to an automated system that allows verifying the admission of injured or affected people.

Rodríguez reiterated that the State maintains the deployment of care and rescue in all areas impacted by earthquakes and that the balance will be updated as search and assistance efforts progress.
