Jorge Rodríguez announced the death of 188 people and more than 1500 injured after earthquakes

The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, announced that the death toll so far has risen to 188 people and 1,520 injured people, who are already in hospitals and are being treated.

In addition, during a review after the earthquake that occurred in Caracas, he specified that 157 people have also been reported missing so far. “If there is a family member that you have not been able to communicate with in the last few hours, through the VenApp system and through a 0800 number, which we will have starting this afternoon, you can report the disappearance of your friend, family member or loved one,” he said.

In the same way, he indicated that so far there are “more than 200 people trapped in the rubble of buildings and we are in a fierce race against time to rescue most of them.” In addition, he noted that 1,927 families have been affected.

In turn, he indicated the structural damage to 8 hospitals, 20 shopping centers, plus 67 damaged infrastructure works, “that is, 346 infrastructure works in total damaged”, adding up to 250 residential buildings.

He reaffirmed that this part will be updated to keep the population informed in a timely manner, while reiterating the call to the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, to maintain calm and national unity in the face of this national emergency.
