Jorge Rodríguez: Number of deaths due to earthquakes rise to 1,450

The number of people who died as a result of the earthquakes that devastated our country on June 24 has risen to 1,450, said the president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez.

During a balance sheet released this Sunday, Rodríguez indicated that so far there have been 3,150 injured, in the seven states affected by the earthquakes, and 12,721 families affected.

“The number of collapsed buildings rises to 764, of which 189 have total collapse and 585 with partial damage. 38 hospitals have been affected, which we are already repairing; 44 shopping centers and 1,635 other structures such as bridges, roads, etc. Thus, we reached 2,501 affected infrastructures,” said Rodríguez.

In addition, in the report, Rodríguez indicated that, after the two earthquakes, the Bolivarian Government has served 73,937 families. In addition, 7 million 225 thousand kilos of food and more than 20 thousand bags of food have been distributed.

“We have transferred 527 people, injured or affected, to be treated in hospitals in Caracas. 4,200 people have received medical assistance and 7,168 have been treated by triage in hospitals in La Guaira,” said Rodríguez.
