The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, asked the population to “not go down to La Guaira” to avoid congestion on the roads used by rescue teams.

“The best support is to allow the passage of ambulances, the Armed Forces and rescue forces,” he said.

Rodríguez confirmed 920 deaths, 3,360 injured and more than 4,000 people affected by the earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 recorded on Wednesday. He indicated that 302 seismic events have been recorded, including more than 300 aftershocks.

He noted that 383 buildings and houses were destroyed or severely damaged, most of them in La Guaira.

He reported that the collection centers authorized in Caracas are located in La Carlota and in the Caracas Storage Unit, in Catia.

He announced that in the next few hours an 0800 number will be activated to report missing persons, with a system linked to hospitals that have received injuries.
