The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, reiterated this Thursday the call to the Venezuelan people to maintain calm and national unity in the face of the catastrophe in the country resulting from the high-intensity earthquakes of this June 24.

“To the entire Venezuelan population, we insist that their main contribution is to maintain calm and maintain national unity,” Rodríguez said, providing an assessment of the effects caused by earthquakes.

He highlighted that, as reported by the president in charge Delcy Rodríguez, the state of La Guaira was declared a natural disaster area.

“The earthquake acted with immense aggressiveness, especially in the state of La Guaira (...) The areas that are tremendously affected, with a situation I really dare to label as terrifying, are the Caraballeda area and the Playa Larga area,” he said.

“Rest assured that in the face of this disaster, the national unity and strength of our State, the strength of our people and the strength of international solidarity will be able to rescue most of our sisters and brothers alive and will also achieve reconstruction, and from this misfortune be certain that we will come out,” he emphasized.
