Judge who tried to stop investigation into seized explosives arrested in Maturín

The judge, Lisbeth del Valle Rondón, the highest criminal authority in Monagas and a member of the entity's Court of Appeals, was allegedly arrested in Maturín for her alleged intentions to paralyze investigations into high-powered explosives recently seized by security forces in the state's capital.

According to national media, Rondón went to the headquarters of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) in the entity to intervene on behalf of her husband José Enrique Martínez, who is a lawyer for the oil company identified as the owner of the confiscated material, which would be used for terrorist plans promoted by the extreme right.

On August 9, the sectoral vice-president of Politics, Public Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, announced the discovery of 1137 boxes containing 54 thousand units of hollow charges, 35 rolls of detonating cord and 125 electric detonators in two warehouses located in the Maturín Industrial Zone and on Alirio Ugarte Pelayo Avenue, in an operation that resulted in eight people arrested.

The also Minister of People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace pointed out that the head of the terrorist plans is the extremist opposition María Corina Machado, who intended to use these explosives to “harm the people”, through “drug gangs” supported by the United States.
