(CLARÍN, DECEMBER 12, 1964)
- On December 6, 1964, Luis Alejandro Manía was arrested on the steps of Los Magallanes de Catia. The arrest was carried out by an official of the General Directorate of Police (DIGEPOL), named Fidias Sarmiento, on the accusation that the young man was a leader of an opposition party.
- In fact, Luis Alejandro Manía, 18, was a social leader of Catia and was involved in community-based organizing tasks.
- After his arrest, DIGEPOL officials took him to km. 2 of the El Junquito highway, where he was tortured and shot.
- The autopsy was carried out by doctor Alejandro Capriles, who determined that Luis Alejandro received six bullet wounds, two of which were gunshots to the skull and because of the marks on his body it was concluded that, while alive, his body was dragged along the pavement, to be thrown into the bushes.
- Four days later, it was found by children playing in the area, in an advanced state of decomposition.
- At that time, it was the first year of Raúl Leoni's government, when Gonzalo Barrios was minister of repression and political persecution.
