Maiquetía International Airport reached 50% of air operations after double earthquake

The Simón Bolívar de Maiquetía International Airport, in the state of La Guaira, is progressing in its recovery process and currently reaches 50% of its air operation, after the technical assistance work carried out following the seismic event recorded last June 24.

The information was released by the Deputy Minister of Air Transport and President of Bolivariana de Aeropuerto (BAER), Sergio Silvio Prato, who highlighted the response implemented through the contingency plan to maintain the continuity of operations and guarantee the mobility of passengers at the country's main airport.

In a publication on the BAER portal, Prato states that to date there have been 1,145 domestic flights, operations that have allowed the transfer of more than 75,000 users.

At the international level, 576 operations have been carried out to transport more than 83,000 passengers, reaffirming the strategic role of Maiquetía as a point of connection with the world, he said.

As part of the actions to boost the national aeronautical infrastructure, the aeronautical authority reported on the progress of adaptation projects at the “Arturo Michelena” International Airport, in the state of Carabobo.

After the reversion of its facilities, BAER is carrying out optimization works to respond to the projected increase in demand for tickets and ensure service efficiency in the central region of the country.

It also mentions the return of international airlines. In this regard, he noted that air connectivity in the country projects sustained growth for the coming months with the reincorporation of important international airlines:

Turkish Airlines: It will resume operations on October 1st with four weekly flights.

Qatar Airways: It plans to resume its flights to the country starting on November 4 of this year.

ITA Airways: It is making progress in its administrative procedures to join the national connectivity network starting in 2027.

With these measures, the National Executive, through the Ministry of People's Power for Transport, reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting a safe, efficient and internationally renowned air service.
