At the request of the Public Ministry (MP), Víctor Javier Melero Utrera was deprived of
liberty for his alleged responsibility for
the sexual abuse of his 14-year-old stepdaughter, the prosecution said in a press release.
According to the information, the incident occurred on
January 11, 2024, in the Santa Cruz sector of the San Luis parish of the Valera
municipality, Trujillo state, when the victim confessed
to a relative that her stepfather was sexually abusing her, which is why both went to officials of the Corps of
Scientific,
Criminal and Criminal Investigations (CICPC) to file the respective complaint.
After
the investigation process coordinated by the MP, it was determined
that the aggressor had been sexually abusing her since she was 12 years old, and was therefore arrested
by CICPC officials at her residence.
In
this regard, at the presentation hearing, representatives of the
9th Public Prosecutor's Office of
Trujillo charged Melero with the
crimes of sexual abuse without penetration and sexual intercourse with a victim who was especially
vulnerable because of his age and continued kinship, foreseen and sanctioned in the
Organic Law on Women's Right to a Life Free from
Violence.
“
Once the elements of conviction presented by the prosecutors in the case had been evaluated,
the Trujillo First Control Court issued the above-mentioned deprivation of
liberty against the aggressor, who is being held at the headquarters of the entity's
CICPC,” the note noted.
