The Ministry of
Popular Power for Culture (MPPC) reported that the writer Rodavlas Salvador Medina
Lozada, known as Rod Medina, won the 7th
Cruz Salmerón Acosta National Literature Biennial, a mention for children's poetry, with “Poems for a Day of Vacation”.
According to information from
the MPPC, the jury, composed of Heberto González Ferrer, César Franco Rivero
and José Gregorio González Márquez, unanimously agreed to award the prize to Medina
because his “book is linked to the poetic interests of children. The use
of suggestive images allows the little ones to get closer to the world of the
word made poem”.
In addition, they considered that the
work “is conceived in a transparent and sometimes playful language that
stimulates imagination and creativity. Simple poems full of
emotion, sensations, inner musicality and beauty that denote the closeness
of the literary image to the fantastic universe of the child”.
It should be noted that the winning work will receive a certificate and a prize of one hundred thousand bolivars awarded by the National Book Center (CENAL), and the publication of the book by Monte Ávila Editores (printed and digital).
