Minister García recognizes the work of Venezuelan and international rescuers in La Guaira

The work of Venezuelan rescuers and international delegations has marked the work in Caraballeda, La Guaira, since the beginning of the emergency, as reported by the Minister of Penitentiary Affairs, Julio García.

He said that Venezuelan officials, volunteers and foreign teams have entered collapsed structures, sustained continuous days and taken risks to locate and rescue people in areas with the greatest impact.

“This tragedy has brought out the best in us. I have seen Venezuelans and colleagues from other countries risking their lives to save people. I have never seen that before and I am profoundly proud of those who are here, because they are the reality.” — Julio García, Minister of Penitentiary Affairs.

He rejected the attitude of many who wanted to discredit the work of Security Officials, Civil Protection, National Armed Forces, and others who since day one have been on the front lines of battle to ensure the rescue of affected people.

“A few, most of them who are not in Venezuela, who are in the comfort of a couch with a telephone in their hand, are the ones who discredit the work of thousands of Venezuelan officials and colleagues of other nationalities who are here,” García said.

García reiterated that the teams are still operating and that there is still work to be done in the impact zone. He indicated that it is necessary to report on the deployment, because “the negative cannot be imposed on the positive actions taken by Venezuelans and the international teams present in the country.”
