Committed to strengthening sustainable agriculture and agri-food security in the country, Jhoanna Carrillo, head of the Ministry of Popular Power for Urban Agriculture (MINPPAU), held a meeting with producers from Caracas, at the Fabricio Ojeda Endogenous Development Center (Nudefo), located in the Sucre parish, in the capital city.

In the framework of the 8th anniversary of the MINPPAU, Carrillo stressed that his office was created by President Nicolás Maduro to plant it in the heart of the people, of families, in schools; it is an entity that must be seen thanks to its productive quality.

“We must commit ourselves as a team, as a task force, so that we can envision 2024 as a year that has to take firm and strong steps in the construction of highly productive, sustainable and real spaces; the only way to do this is to have a work plan,” he said.

He also said that it is thanks to a work team committed to food production that the ministry can ensure that schools are productive spaces.

“One of the most interesting values is youth, who fall in love with production, who understand that everything has a value and an end result that makes them happy, so it is necessary for producers to connect with the youngest and provide them with training for food production.

The minister congratulated the work and commitment of the workers of the Bolivar 1 Organoponic, who, thanks to their work with Nudefo producers, recovered the aforementioned space. “Here we observe the discipline, undoubtedly of the companions of Nudefo and the Bolivar 1 Organoponic,” he said.

During his speech, Carrillo called on urban producers to continue working to increase the production of organic food, free of pesticides, in the country. “I ask you to make this year 2024 a beautiful, beautiful year, one of enjoyment, but also one of a lot of production, so that in 2025 we will see the fruits of what we are planting in this year 2024.”

He also highlighted the importance of identifying productive leadership in the territory, complying with the seven keys to success, and participating in the productive activities that the Ministry is organizing for this new year.
