With an attendance of 83% of students, the new 2026-2027 school year began, said the Minister of Education, Héctor Rodríguez, during a tour of the Herminia Mijares Educational Unit (EU), located in the Ciudad Tiuna urban area in Caracas.
“We are starting early, I have been in communication with all the state directors, 99% of the schools are open and 97% of the staff in their workspaces. I want to congratulate all the teachers and all the students. Education is going to go ahead,” said the head of the education portfolio in a video posted on his Telegram channel.
In addition, in the aforementioned audiovisual, Rodríguez explained that the Herminia Mijares Educational Unit (EU), which is being released this Monday, is a module prioritized by residents in the National Popular Consultation of February 2025 by the Simón Bolívar Commune and that it will expand the institution's capacities.
The new UE Herminia Mijares module will have two levels and six classrooms, aimed at strengthening the care capacity of the campus and ensuring adequate, safe and decent environments for the comprehensive education of the institution's children.
