Ministry of Health activated blood donation days in hospitals in Caracas

The Ministry of People's Power for Health reported that different hospitals in Caracas keep blood donation days operational until Sunday, and specified that the activity will operate between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., for three consecutive days, while medical teams recalled that the process requires meeting basic conditions to ensure the safety of the donor and the recipient.

The requirements include having breakfast and being over 18 years old, in addition to not having a recent flu or being treated with antibiotics, and a weight greater than 50 kilograms is also required, while those with tattoos must have more than one year since their completion to participate.

The points authorized to receive volunteers are the Dr. José Gregorio Hernández Hospital in Los Magallanes de Catia, the University Hospital of Caracas, the Municipal Blood Bank, the Pérez de León II Hospital, the Domingo Luciani Hospital, the Chacao Blood Center and the Victorino Santaella Hospital, and each center will maintain its internal logistics for donor care.

The day seeks to reinforce the availability of blood products in the public network and guarantee the supply for emergencies and surgical procedures, so the authorities reiterated the call to participate and to maintain the continuity of voluntary donation as a regular practice.
