Within the framework of the continuous monitoring protocols activated after the recent seismic activity in the country, the Ministry of Popular Power for Transportation carried out an exhaustive technical inspection of the San Julián riverbed, located in the Caraballeda sector of the state of La Guaira. The fundamental purpose of this institutional action is to certify the integrity of the river infrastructure in the face of possible geological variations in the terrain.

Specialists from the National Pipeline Institute (Incanal) addressed as a matter of priority the strategic sections corresponding to the North, South and Osorio bridges. During the field deployment, the multidisciplinary commission evaluated the hydraulic dynamics of the tributary and the current state of the supports of the road structures, consolidating a highly accurate technical diagnosis for the regional connectivity system.

The purpose of strengthening this engineering monitoring is to mitigate potential risks and anticipate contingencies in the face of the advance of the rainy season in the northeastern state. By correlating data on seismic vulnerability and hydrological behavior, experts optimize prevention efforts against possible increases in flow or accumulation of sediment at the bases of viaducts.

The authorities of the transport sector confirmed that these preventive diagnoses will be maintained on a permanent basis and in coordination with local public security bodies.

In this way, the national Government reaffirms its commitment to risk management and the maintenance of public services, focusing its efforts on safeguarding the safety of road infrastructure and the peace of mind of the Guairian population.
