The Nevado Mission rescued 449 animals in areas affected by the earthquakes of last June 24, said its owner, Maigualida Vargas.

From the shelter set up at Finca Los Corales, La Guaira state, Vargas explained that the animals receive medical evaluation, hydration and care, while verifying their condition and coordinating reunification or temporary adoption processes.

“Amidst the rubble and uncertainty, love for the most vulnerable became our greatest strength,” said Vargas, who noted that the organization remains active in the areas most affected.

According to a note from the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), the president of the mission indicated that the work is carried out by specialized animal rescue teams and that, in addition, they have the support of volunteers and community organizations that collaborate in transportation, classification and care.
