More than 3,500 miners have been expelled from protected areas in Bolívar state

The FANB remains deployed fighting illegal mining in our national parks

More than 3,500 people have been evicted from protected areas, national parks and forest reserves in the state of Bolivar as part of Operation Roraima 2024 carried out by the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB).

This was reported by the strategic operational commander of the FANB, G/J Domingo Hernández Lárez, through his X account where he explained that these people, dedicated to illegal mining, were in the sectors of Caura, Guri, Manteco, Canaima, La Paragua and Maripa.

In other messages, the senior military official reported the eviction of 13 illegal mines installed in the Guri reservoir. He explained that 678 citizens were evacuated from these, consisting of 382 men, 196 women, 63 boys and 37 girls.
