MOVILNET enabled free satellite SMS in La Guaira

The mobile phone operator, MOVILNET activated free of charge the text messaging (SMS) service in the affected areas of the state of La Guaira, together with the Starlink Mobile satellite service.
This initiative, according to a press release, seeks to ensure that citizens stay connected and provide vital support to the work of rescue and security agencies in the entity.
The service was designed to be accessible and functional under specific conditions, so sending satellite SMS is completely free for users in emergency areas.
To access this tool, it is essential that the user has the Roaming option activated in their phone settings. It is also available to all MOVILNET customers who have devices with LTE technology and is recommended for use in areas with an unobstructed view of the sky to ensure an optimal connection.
MOVILNET has deployed a comprehensive response operation in the localities most affected by the double earthquake of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 that devastated La Guaira on June 24, ensuring robust coverage through the installation of mobile radio bases with state-of-the-art technology that guarantee voice and data services.
In the same way, the operator enabled free Wi-Fi access points in the Playa Grande and Caraballeda sectors, and proceeded to release the charge for traditional calls and text messages throughout the affected area.
The operator's technical staff remains deployed in the field working tirelessly to stabilize the telecommunications infrastructure and ensure continuity of service.
