The private consultancy firm Zuban Córdoba y Asociados, through a survey conducted on December 28 and 29, 2023, analyzed the impact of the first measures of the far-right Javier Milei and revealed that he has a negative image of 55% as president of Argentina.
“For years we have repeated like a mantra that contexts rule and are extremely liquid (...) Governing believing that the consensus that was achieved at a given moment in time will be permanent is the first step in making serious errors,” the recent study said.
It is worth noting that Milei has been in power for less than four weeks and his neoliberal policy has led to a more drastic drop in popularity for a Head of State in the region, according to the survey.
“This is the fastest loss of positive differential on record. We even dare to say that it is probably the fastest in the entire history of the region,” said the consultant.
In this regard, it means that Milei has only 44.1% approval, when he won the elections in the second round less than two months ago with 56% of the votes.
In addition, the study showed that 54.3% believe that Argentina is going in the wrong direction, while 52.9% believe that within a year the country's situation will be bad.
According to what was published on the RT website, 65% say that the “caste” is not paying for the measures, as Milei promised when he was a candidate, while 71.9% believe that the tough cuts are being taken by the Argentine population.
