Padrino López: Chávez forged a perfect civic-military union

The supreme commander, Hugo Chávez Frías, forged a perfect civic-military union that the FANB and the people are determined to protect and consolidate at all costs, said Defense Minister, G/J Vladimir Padrino López.

In a statement released this Tuesday to commemorate the 11th anniversary of Commander Chávez's change of plan, the senior military officer stressed that this thoughtful event encouraged the people to reaffirm their irrevocable commitment to preserve the legacy that this giant left to humanity.

Eleven years ago, the people of Venezuela received overwhelming news that filled them with sadness and desolation. The undaunted soldier who, with his example, leadership, temperance and love, had led the unprecedented process of emancipation, democratic, popular and anti-imperialist of the Bolivarian Revolution, transcended this plane to become perpetual in collective memory. Our Commander Hugo Chávez, the revolutionary leader who revived the patriotic spirit of all Venezuelans, changed his landscape at that fateful hour of March 5, 2013.

However, the untimely feeling of emptiness that shook a crowd and unleashed their unstoppable cry, failed to break their will to fight and irreducible determination to defend freedom, independence and sovereignty, so fiercely conquered and jealously guarded. For this reason, far from being afflicted, imbued with his rebellious fire, we are encouraged by the whirlwind of his thinking, reaffirming in frank loyalty, the irrevocable commitment to preserve the legacy that this giant left to humanity as a statesman, strategist, politician and military.

Thanks to the Supreme Commander, this Homeland is safe today, because inspired by the ideology and immensity of his work, we remain in firm resistance against the imperialist hosts that have historically stalked us. Chávez forged a perfect civic-military union, which at the present time and under the leadership of citizen Nicolás Maduro Moros, Constitutional President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, our Commander in Chief, we are determined to protect and consolidate at all costs. For this reason, in this new commemoration of its fertile planting, “With the strength of a thousand centaurs, in a tumultuous, tremendous and victorious burden”, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, flies its flags of social justice, solidarity, dignity and peace. Let's emulate the virtues of Hugo Chávez so that his legacy throbs eternally in the hearts of the people!
