Padrino López: More and better opportunities are coming for the development of the Venezuelan countryside

After the energy agreements signed between Venezuela and the United
States, the Minister for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Vladímir
Padrino López, stressed that these agreements reached by President Delcy
Rodríguez are a historic turning point, not only for the oil industry, but also for strengthening the country's food sovereignty.
“I want to tell the producers, the farmers, the
agro-industry, that there are reasons to be optimistic: more and better
opportunities are coming for the development of the Venezuelan countryside. We are
committed to domestic production, because a nation that is not capable of generating its
own food lacks a soul and cannot be considered fully
sovereign,” he emphasized.
The head of the agricultural firm pointed out that this new energy
scenario also looks at a thriving and diversified Venezuela,
because in his opinion, food, energy and technology are currently the
major vectors that drive global geopolitics.
“It's not a question of repeating the schemes of the past, an unreal, importing
Venezuela, a fake Venezuela, in the words of Uslar
Pietri,” the minister stressed.
Padrino López stressed that these energy agreements
will translate into more well-being for the agricultural sector, such as stable and
reliable energy for irrigation, better financing conditions and even a
review of the tax burden, greater scientific research, mechanization, rural
roads, agro-inputs, precision agriculture, modernization of the agro-industry, among others.
“Each additional barrel can also lead us to think about
new arable hectares, higher yields and better conditions
for those who work the land,” he said.
