Padrino López: Nine operations are active in the national territory against drug trafficking

The Sectorial Vice President of Defense and Sovereignty, G/J Vladimir Padrino López, reported that there are currently nine operations underway across the country to combat drug trafficking.

During a press conference, he indicated that these actions include 164 deployments and a total of 10,380 troops mobilized throughout the territory mobilized throughout the country.

He specified that so far, ten camps and five laboratories have been destroyed near the Colombian border, as well as 28 logistics facilities and three shipyards.

He stressed that in August, 52 thousand 769 kg of drugs and 153 thousand 118 kg of chemical precursors were seized. Since the approval of the Comprehensive Air Space Defense Control Act in 2012, 400 aircraft linked to drug trafficking have been neutralized.

1,800 meters of detonating cord, 119 pistols, 154 rifles, 184 magazines and more than 28,000 rounds of ammunition of various calibers were also seized. Ninety-four boats, 80 engines and 169 thousand 31 liters of fuel were seized. In total, 6,284 people were arrested for crimes related to drug trafficking, illegal mining, terrorism and human trafficking.

“The North American empire will not be able to impose drug trafficking routes on Venezuelan territory. We are assisted by the Constitution, by the laws, and we are obliged that these aircraft do not transit our airspace or land on Venezuelan territory,” said Padrino López.

He emphasized that the crime rate in Venezuela remains below 2% per 100,000 inhabitants, unlike higher figures in other countries.

He concluded by stressing that the results achieved are the result of the joint efforts of security agencies and the Bolivarian National Armed Forces.
