From the state of La Guaira, the president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, confirmed that the priority of the Venezuelan authorities after the seismic event is the rescue of living people who remain under the rubble of collapsed buildings.
“The most important thing is the process of rescuing people who are still alive, that is our priority,” he said, while thanking the Venezuelan civil protection rescuers, the Fire Department, as well as the medical staff and volunteers for the work they have carried out continuously since the earthquake occurred.
“We hugged them! We thank them for their tireless work! They have come from all over the country to help in the search for those Venezuelans, those Venezuelans who are still alive, and we have faith and hope that we are going to rescue them,” he said.
He also thanked the international brigades that continue to arrive in the country to join the search and rescue of people.
“Venezuela is not alone! We have received the supportive hand of the world and at this moment the delegation of rescuers from Italy has just landed... And I want to report that in the next few hours more countries will be arriving and between now and tomorrow's time, practically 10 more countries will join these rescue efforts,” he said.
